Update from Funds Raised at Walk-a-Thon

August, 2001

We received some notes from teens who attended Phantom Ranch Bible Camp the summer of 2002. The teens came from an inner-city church in Chicago and were able to go because of the funds raised from our walk-a-thon in August, 2001. God is awesome! God had these children picked out even before we raised the funds. We wanted to help change lives in children who may turn to the paths of drugs and violence. We did this in Jessie’s memory and give God the Glory.

We will again be doing a fund-raiser

in August, 2003

Here is a note of thanks from a youth pastor:

"...The youth staff would really like to say ‘thanks" for working so hard and giving so much to enable our teens to go to summer camp. I know it was an experience that changed their lives, but almost more importantly, at least from a youth pastor’s perspective, it brought a unity to our group and a unique bonding that only a camp experience can provide. Since camp, most of our teens are genuinely loving each other and are holding each other accountable to keep pressing on. To see how they have come together like this is truly a blessing from God: it is not something that can come from an extreme experience, and you gave them just that – Thank you so much.... I can still see the glow they came home from camp with. They bring their bibles to every service now - They actively participate in each service now –

everyone in the church has noticed a dramatic change in our youth group: a new energy and passion for God...

I must also thank the person who made the scholarship possible. To try and put into words the lasting, not to mention, eternal impact that this week had on these 14 teens, is impossible. I cannot emphasize enough how much they changed from the time I dropped them off to when I picked them up. It is extraordinary. I don’t see it as much of a coincidence that once our teens came home from camp we started having some very powerful moves of God during our Tuesday and Sunday services. Thank you so much....May God Bless you for Blessing His Children" Youth Pastor

Here are a few notes from teens who

were able to go to camp because of

your generous donations:

"Thank you for allowing me to go to camp. It was a very different experience for me. I got a chance to meet people from different places, people of different races.... I would love to go next year. I also got a chance to do things I wouldn’t have got a chance to do in the city."

"...I did a lot of stuff I have never done before... I went canoe riding for the first time. I went banana boat riding for the first time."

"...I just want to thank you for a wonderful time and making me stop running from Jesus cause when I was back home my life was a mess but when I came to camp, that opened my eyes. I got saved and no longer was I running from God.... I learned how to have fun and still learn about God..."

"... To the person who gave me money to be able to come to camp. I just want to thank you for your help..."

"...Thank you for all your help so that we could go to Phantom Ranch... I’ve made a good connection with my Lord Almighty. I’ve finally learned much more about God than I ever did before so I’m writing this letter so I can thank you for your help."

"... I am writing to thank you for sending me to camp. I really had fun. I learned cool things there. If I didn’t go to camp, I probably wouldn’t be talking about God or worshipping Him... So I am writing to you to thank you because without you, I wouldn’t have went."

"... Thank you very much for sending us to camp. I learned a lot. I have also changed over the past week... What I learned was in Bible camp was that God loves everyone. I learned you should never put nothing before God. We also learned about sex, that our body was not meant for sexual immorality. When we were in chapel, we learned that we should always be on guard and be strong because the devil is always waiting to attack you. I have also changed over this past week. I was always angry. People at camp showed me there is nothing to be mad at. I learned not to give into other people’s bitterness and if you reign in Him, He’ll reign in you always...."

"...I would like to thank you for the great experience of learning about God and having fun at the same time... I wish I could have stayed there longer than a week... I also enjoyed the activities they had planned for us like horse-backriding, volleyball, cheerleading, skiing, and basketball..."

"...Camp really changed me because now I’m not shy to stand up, close my eyes, lift my hands and praise the Lord... There were other people who I saw change in different ways. I couldn’t believe the way they were letting the devil take over them at times. I had fun swimming, playing games, working as a team and doing the aqua slide and all the other activities at camp. Camp made me open up my eyes to appreciate nature and things around me more than before... I hope God will bless your heart so much for all you’ve done for us, giving us all that money and giving us that beautiful experience to watch and see what God can do with us. I knew God had a plan for me as soon as I got to camp. You let me see how God could change us and also use us how He wanted to."
